Cookies & Rounds
Cross-Sections of Salvaged Urban Logs
Cookies (also called rounds) are cross-sections cut directly from the log. These often are cut from firewood length logs that had been bucked before it was known that they had a second life waiting for them as lumber.
At Bole To Board Sawmill, cookies are milled from locally salvaged urban hardwood logs in Northeast Wisconsin. Each piece reflects the natural character of the tree it came from and offers a unique perspective into the complete life of that tree.
Inventory varies by species and log availability.

Sizes & Species
Thicknesses are measured in "quarters". This practice dates back to the early days of steam circular sawmills because the adjustments were in increments of 1/4". 8/4 is a 2" thickness, for example.
4/4, 6/4, 8/4 and 12/4 are the common thicknesses stocked.
Diameters range from 3" to 30"
